Frequently Asked Questions

Who should attend this workshop?

This course is designed for podiatrists and orthopedic surgeons who want to expand their surgical capabilities with minimally invasive foot and ankle techniques.

Whether you are beginning to explore MIS or looking to refine and advance your current skills, this workshop provides the practical training needed to confidently integrate these procedures into your practice.

Will I actually perform procedures in the cadaver lab?

Yes. This workshop is built around true hands-on surgical training.

Each participant is provided with their own cadaver specimen, allowing you to practice the procedures step-by-step under the direct guidance of experienced MIS faculty.

The goal is not just to observe techniques but to develop real surgical skill through guided practice.

What makes this cadaver lab different from other surgical courses?

Many courses focus primarily on lectures or demonstrations.

The International MIFAS Cadaver Lab Workshop is designed to provide extensive hands-on experience, small group instruction, and direct feedback from faculty who actively perform minimally invasive surgery in clinical practice.

This immersive format allows participants to develop technical confidence and practical understanding of MIS procedures

What types of procedures will be covered?

Participants will learn and practice core minimally invasive techniques used to treat common foot and ankle deformities, including:

● Hallux valgus (bunion correction)
● Hammertoes

● Tailor’s bunions
● Exostosis and bone spurs
● Lesser metatarsal deformities
● Tendon imbalance and select rearfoot conditions

Faculty will guide participants through both surgical decision-making and procedural execution.

I’m new to minimally invasive surgery. Is this course appropriate for me?

Yes. The course is designed to provide a strong foundation in minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery.

Faculty guide participants through the principles, instrumentation, and techniques step-by-step so that surgeons new to MIS can gain a clear understanding of the procedures and how they are performed.

I already perform MIS procedures. Will I still benefit from this workshop?

Absolutely. Many experienced surgeons attend to refine their techniques, learn new procedural variations, and exchange clinical insights with faculty and colleagues from around the world.

The cadaver lab environment provides an ideal setting to practice advanced techniques and deepen surgical precision.

Will I be able to apply what I learn in my practice?

The workshop is designed with a strong focus on practical clinical application.

Participants learn the principles of patient evaluation, surgical planning, and procedural techniques so they can better understand how minimally invasive procedures can be integrated into everyday clinical practice.

How many participants are accepted into the workshop?

Enrollment is intentionally limited to maintain a high faculty-to-participant ratio and maximize hands-on training time in the cadaver lab.

Because of this small group format, seats tend to fill quickly each year.

Why is the cadaver lab important for MIS training?

Minimally invasive surgery requires precise technique and tactile understanding of anatomy.

Cadaver lab training allows surgeons to practice procedures in a controlled environment, developing familiarity with instrumentation and surgical technique before applying these methods in clinical practice.

Learn Directly from International Faculty Experts

Outstanding national and international faculty will guide participants through each step of the procedures, providing expert instruction, clinical insights, and real-time feedback to maximize the learning experience.
